Oscar-winning filmmaker Woody Allen will receive the Golden Globes' Cecil B. DeMille Award, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said.
The prolific writer-actor-director will be conferred the honor Jan 12 at the 71st Annual Golden Globes ceremony, Xinhua reported.
The award is given annually to people who have made an incredible impact on the world of entertainment.
"There is no one more worthy of this award than Woody Allen," said association president Theo Kingma in a statement announcing the award.
"His contributions to filmmaking have been phenomenal and he truly is an international treasure."
Allen, who has made 45 films including "Annie Hall", "Manhattan", "Hannah and Her Sisters" and other iconic flicks, earned 13 nominations for Gloden Globe awards.
He won twice for screenwriting "The Purple Rose of Cairo" in 1985 and "Midnight in Paris" in 2012.
The filmmaker, whose career spanned more than half a century, is more successful with Academy Awards, earning 23 nods and winning four of them.
Other important figures who received the honor include actress Jody Foster, actors Morgan Freeman and Robert De Niro, and directors Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
