Bayern Munich's Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso has expressed grief over the death of Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff, who died after a hard-fought battle with cancer on Thursday aged 68.
"The '14' will never be the same. RIP Johan Cruyff," Alonso wrote on Twitter.
The official Twitter account of Bayern Munich also mourned the death of the Dutch genius.
"Rest in Peace, @JohanCruyff! #RIPCruyff," it said.
Johan Cruyff's official website also posted "On March 24 2016 Johan Cruyff (68) died peacefully in Barcelona, surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. It's with great sadness that we ask you to respect the family's privacy during their time of grief."
