The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh presented its maiden budget of Rs 384,659 crore -- a hike of 10.90 per cent over the previous fiscal -- in the state assembly on Tuesday.
Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal presented the budget.
Many schemes, including Rs 300 crore for urban development and the Rs 380 crore for Malin Basti development have been named after late BJP ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is celebrating Upadhyaya's centenary in a big way.
While presenting the budget, Agarwal reiterated the state government's commitment towards the farmers and the marginalised sections of the society.
He informed the House that the government proposes recruitment of 1.50 lakh new police personnel.
An allocation of Rs 791.83 crore has also been made for scholarships to students from the minority community, he said.
A revenue target of Rs 17,458,34 crore has been set for the Stamp and Registration Department while Rs 5,481,20 crore has been set through taxation on vehicles.
The Excise Department, which is a major money spinner for the state, has been set a revenue target of Rs 20,593,23 crore.
