A 21-year-old sailor, posted at INS Zamorin at Indian Naval Academy, died on Wednesday, a statement said on Thursday.
The sailor, Pankaj Kumar Roy, who hailed from Shillong, Meghalaya, was found unconscious by his colleagues around 5.30 p.m. on Monday, and was admitted to the ICU at Indian Naval Hospital Navjivani and administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
He was later shifted to Pariyaram Medical College and Hospital in a mobile ICU Van on ventilator along with a medical specialist and medical assistant.
The efforts to revive the sailor, however, failed and he breathed his last on Wednesday, the statement said.
Family of the sailor was informed and an inquiry into his death has been ordered by the Southern Naval Command.
INS Zamorin and the naval hospital INHS Navjivani share the same site as Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
