A teenager was apprehended in West Bengal's Malda district and fake Indian currency notes bearing the face value of nearly Rs.5.50 lakh were seized from him, the Border Security Force (BSF) said on Friday.
The seizure was made late Thursday during a joint operation by the BSF and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) near the Farakka Barrage.
"The accused Babar Ali, 18, was apprehended last night and Rs.5.48 lakh in FICNs (fake Indian currency notes) were recovered from his possession. He has been handed over to the local police for further action," a BSF officer said.
