Amritsar on the party circuit

The buzz in Amritsar is that Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Arun Jaitley is campaigning via cocktail parties. He may have chosen this route, in addition to the gruelling rallies and roadshows, because of the influence of Suhel Seth, adman and a regular at Page Three parties, say businessmen who also frequent such dos. At any rate, Seth was spotted in Jaitley's Innova on the campaign trail and lawyer Ryan Karanjawala, another regular at society parties, is also part of Jaitley's campaign team. As for Jaitley, who's getting support from some unlikely quarters including Congress loyalists, he's clearly not averse to the invitations from "important residences" of Amritsar ahead of the election. "It is here that the message percolates well," he says.
