A seat on the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has been eluding Anurag Goel, secretary in the ministry of corporate affairs. First, his name was recommended for the post of CCI chairman, but he couldn’t make it because of opposition from some sections of the powers that be. Subsequently, he was shortlisted as one of the CCI members.

However, that has been hanging fire. The committee cleared some other files but before it could get to Goel’s case, it was dissolved as the government went in for elections. Now he will have to wait for the new government — and a new committee.
