Doordarshan’s live coverage of the Commonwealth Games’ opening ceremony raised quite a few eyebrows. The reason: The positions of the cameras were such that many VVIPs could not be seen on TV! The list included even the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. A message was soon sent to the top babus at Prasar Bharati to “correct” the error. During the closing ceremony, the cautious DD staff kept their focus regularly on Gandhi and Kumar, and most other VIPs were also visible on the small screen.
