The who's who of the financial sector and politics have been visiting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley after he assumed office last Tuesday. The prominent ones included the Reserve Bank of India governor, regulators of the stock markets, commodities markets and insurance industry, and the Punjab chief minister among others. It was not difficult to guess what would have transpired at those meetings, but when Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar came calling, that too twice, the media went crazy trying to guess his business. Journalists eyeing a scoop even chased him with queries, only to be disappointed when he told them he had come to North Block to invite the finance minister for a function.
