That’s a sign you see on email or other correspondence within organisations, but rarely does it apply to identity cards. In the case of Infosys, however, the company management has asked its employees not to wear their identity cards outside the campus. One reason, apparently, is that people might take advantage of the employees if they are seen wearing an Infosys ID. In Mysore, Infosysians recall the story of how one of them was charged Rs 40 in an auto-rickshaw instead of the usual Rs 20. When the employee argued, the driver replied, “Saab aap log itna kamate ho aur phir bhi 20 rupaye ke liye ladte ho (Sir, you earn so much and still fuss over a mere Rs 20).”
