The article referenced above should be translated in English, Hindi and other vernacular languages and mailed to all railway station masters. It would be in the fitness of things if all station superintendents ensured it reached all railway employees. The article has a lot of information for the families of railway drivers, ticket checkers and railway guards, who are away from their homes for long hours and put in the most productive years of their lives travelling. I am sure when station masters read the article they would feel proud of the Indian Railways and share it with their families. It is bound to generate a sense of belonging. The article must also be sent to all railway training colleges and institutes and discussed by their staff and trainees.

My father was a permanent way inspector at Bayana Junction in Rajasthan; my father-in-law a railway guard in Lucknow. Growing up, I didn't have access to any knowledge about the options available for railway officers across India, except to become assistant railway masters or take the TTE (travelling ticket examiner) examination.
This apart, railway staff should be encouraged to visit the places that the writer mentions in his articles. This will help the economy of those places. The articles must also find a place in the Rail Bandhu magazine.
