With the government now willing to discuss raising the cap in the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Bill, BJP leader Arun Jaitley had an interesting story to tell. When National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon met him and other party colleagues to explain why the Bill was a good one, he cracked, “Bill ek Prithviraj Chauhan ka, aur muafza doosre Prithviraj Chauhan ka (the Bill is being piloted by Prithviraj Chavan who is the minister of state in charge of atomic energy while according to Jaitley, the liability has been capped at a level which would have been appropriate when Prithviraj Chauhan was king — in the 12th century!).”
