Amid speculations of Kamal Haasan joining politics soon, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met with the film star at his residence in Chennai on Thursday. The actor had earlier said that he would enter politics and has chosen to meet Kejriwal over any BJP or Congress leader.

While the details of the meeting were not made public immediately, sources said that Kejriwal has asked the actor to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to pursue his career in politics.

Recently, Kamal Haasan claimed that he had been meeting politicians regarding his entry into politics and had taken advice from Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

Moreover, the actor has been in a rift with the AIADMK as he critiqued the two factions of the party that merged recently.

"This is the right time for me to come into active politics because everything that can possibly go wrong is going wrong. We need better governance. I am not promising swift remedies. But I promise to start the process of change,” the actor told media.
