The Group of Ministers (GoM), constituted to address all the issues pertaining to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, has rescheduled its meeting with chief minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, to November 18.

The meeting of GoM on Telangana with Reddy was scheduled at 8 pm on Thursday. However, Union minister of state for Information and broadcasting, Manish Tewari, informed Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde that the chief minister had to inaugurate the International Children Film Festival on the same day and at the same time in Hyderabad and as such “he will be unable to meet the GoM,” according to an official press release.

Following this, Shinde had rescheduled the meeting of the GoM to November 18 at 12.30 pm. The Union home ministry has also asked the chief minister's office to confirm his travel plans accordingly.

The chief minister had been opposing bifurcation of the state and conveyed the same to the GoM and as well as the Congress high command whenever he had been called for discussions on the issue.

Consequently, there is speculation that the Monday's meeting is an attempt to convince Reddy to abide by the decision of the Congress Working Committee to accord separate statehood to the Telangana region.
