The second session of the Andhra Pradesh legislative Assembly began here on Monday amidst the Opposition YSR Congress Party's demand for a debate on the alleged political killings involving its followers across the state.

Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad had to adjourn the House without taking up the listed business for the day as the Opposition continued to disrupt the House in support of their demand, which was stoutly rejected by the government.

Proposed to be held till September 6, the legislative Assembly has been primarily convened to discuss and approve the state government's first Budget to be presented on Wednesday. Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu is expected to propose an overall expenditure of over Rs 1 lakh crore taking the full year into account.

Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu earlier stated the government was likely face a revenue deficit of around Rs 15,000 crore in the current year and this is would limit the annual plan size at under Rs 25,000 crore level.

The government of the undivided AP had presented a vote-on-account for the first six months period in February this year while keeping the overall budgetary expenditure for a 12-month period close to the previous year’s levels at about Rs 1.86 lakh crore.

The Telangana government is convening the state legislative Assembly for a similar purpose soon after the conclusion of the AP Assembly session. Both the state assemblies are functioning from the same complex. AP has been allotted the old Assembly hall located in the premises.
