Cutting across party lines, various leaders from Arunachal Pradesh have pleaded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to display India's solidarity with Tibet and initiate an immediate dialogue with the government of China to bring in a positive solution.

In a memorandum to the Prime Minister on Wednesday, leaders of various political parties of the state argued that reaching at a permanent solution favourable to the Tibetan people would be most beneficial to India and the security of Asia.

"Traditionally, Arunachal Pradesh maintained cordial relation with the then free Tibetan state and trade took place between the two region. Hence, the people of Arunachal Pradesh have a sympathetic and sacred solidarity with the Tibetan people," the memorandum, a copy of which was made available to the press, said.

India should undertake the task of promoting dialogue without precondition to advance a solution on Tibet and to press for respect for human rights and the preservation of Tibetan religion, language and cultural heritage, it said.

The Memorandum was signed by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Mukut Mithi, NCP state unit president Kahfa Bengia, BJP state president Tai Tagak, People's Party of Arunachal president Kameng Ringu and Tibet Support Group of Arunachal Pradesh president Tacho Kabak among others.
