In more embarrassment for BJP, party MLA in Bihar Prem Ranjan Patel today came out in strong defence of the party MP Shatrughan Sinha's praise of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as prime ministerial material.

"There is nothing wrong in Singh's statement," Patel told reporters outside the state assembly premises.

He said Sinha's remarks in praise of the chief minister should be seen in totality and not in isolation.

"If one goes through the full statement of Sinha, then it could be made out that he has said nothing wrong," Patel said.

A first-term MLA from Surgyagraha assembly seat in Lakhisarai district, Patel was known as an ardent admirer of the actor-turned-politician.

The BJP leadership sought to ignore Patel's remarks.

Bihar BJP legislature party leader Sushil Kumar Modi said many leaders from across the political spectrum were expressing personal opinions on various issues to oblige reporters.

Earlier in the day, sacked Bihar BJP spokesperson Ramkishore Singh quit from the party to protest the party leadership's alleged high-handed behaviour in asking him to explain his remarks opposing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
