Delhi unit of BJP today said that if voted back to power it will create a safe and cost-effective public transport system, give fiscal incentives to electric vehicles and introduce a common card for buses, rail and metro travel.

The party also promised to double the number of public buses, increase the number of ladies specials with CCTV and set up two ISBT in Narela and Najafgarh.

Announcing the party's "comprehensive Transport Master Plan" as part of 'Dus Din Dus Iradey' campaign, the party's Chief Ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan said BJP has a "radical plan" to transform Delhi's transportation system which would encourage more people to switch to public transport in order to fulfil our government's primary objective of making Delhi a "Green Capital".

"We would integrate all modes of public transport. Delhi Metro, DTC and cluster buses, metro-feeder buses and ring railway shall be integrated to provide end-to-end connectivity to the commuters," he said.

To provide last-mile connectivity, BJP aims to strengthen the network of metro feeder buses and introduce battery operated three-wheeler.

Also, the party would give incentives like exemption of sales tax, subsidies and low interest loan on purchase of electric vehicles.

"The government would double the number of buses, expand the existing metro network to all parts of Delhi and explore the possibility of deployment of Personal Rapid Transport (Podcar) in congested areas," Vardhan said, adding large number of ladies special buses, with CCTV cameras, would also be introduced.
