West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today expressed displeasure over a section of the media "conspiring not to project the good work" done by her government and "spreading only negativity", but said it cannot stop the good work.

"A section of the media can't see the good work that is being done. They are only highlighting the negative things. I want to say that conspiracy can't stop the good work done by the KMC and our government. People will give a befitting reply to the canards," the chief minister said. She asked people to believe in the development that one can see through one's eyes and not through the news circulated by those "who have opened shops for selling news". "The good work done by the KMC is not done on the basis of lectures. It is done on the basis of hard work that we do on the field on a regular basis," she asserted.

The chief minister was speaking at the inauguration of the 15-million gallon water purification and booster pumping station at Chetla in Kolkata.

Banerjee lauded the TMC-led Kolkata Municipal Corporation for the good work that it had done to provide much better services to the citizens of Kolkata.
