Chhattisgarh would become the first state in the country to hold cooperative societies election by the state election commission.

In a crucial decision taken at the state cabinet meeting held here today, Chhattisgarh government had decided to bring ordinance to assign the task of holding election in the cooperative societies to the state election commission. The cabinet approved the draft of the ordinance.

The ordinance was necessitated following the reservation expressed by the state election commission-a body that enjoys equal status with the election commission of India.
