Karnataka High Court today adjourned by two weeks the petition filed by DMK leader K Anbazhagan challenging appointment of Bhavani Singh as Special Public Prosecutor in the disproportionate asset case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Justice A S Bopanna adjourned the hearing, noting that the matter is pending before the Supreme Court, where Jayalalithaa has challenged the removal of Singh as SPP.

Jayalalithaa's counsel argued that since the apex court on September 13 had stayed Karnataka Government's order removing Singh as SPP, nothing survives in the petition filed by Anbazhagan and it may be dismissed as infructuous.
