Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis held a marathon meeting with industry leaders on Monday to implement ‘Make in Maharashtra’ on the lines of ‘Make in India’.

Those who were present included Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani, Piramal group chairman Ajay Piramal and Kalyani Group chairman Baba Kalyani.

Fadnavis, who was accompanied by state industries minister Prakash Mehta, informed industry captains at the outset that the government had decided to drastically reduce the number of permissions required to set up projects.

All the necessary permissions would be granted within a month, he stated. Permissions for investment proposals for Rs 100 crore-plus projects would be given at one place, he added.

He also announced that a high-level committee would be set up to take more steps for making industry-savvy policies and their implementation.

Besides, the state-run Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation will be appointed as the State Planning Authority for the effective implementation of development plans.

Fadnavis said the river regulation zone policy would be amended to remove unwarranted restrictions on non-polluting industries.

He added that the government would put in place an e-platform for transparent clearance. The government would also appoint special officers to keep proper coordination with industry and business, Fadnavis noted.
