Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today took a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party Government, saying the country cannot run on 'Mohalla Sabhas' and a law cannot be decided on the streets.

"The country cannot run with Mohalla politics," he told reporters here.

Lamenting that there was no cooperation anywhere and observed that confrontation had become order of the day.

"Today everywhere we find confrontation. There is no attitude of cooperation anywhere. Everybody wants to show he or she is better than other," he added.

Coming down heavily on the Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi Government, Chatterjee ticked off the 'Mohalla Sabhas' as danger of non-functioning.

"A law will be decided on the streets? Sorry. I contend there is no need for having a Delhi Assembly," he said, while pointing out that laws cannot be changed because something is disliked.

He further doubted their "way of functioning," saying no Government can run from Ramlila Maidan.
