Trinamool Congress(TMC) has sent a show cause notice to its MP and Tollywood actor Tapas Pal, who had threatened to kill CPI-M workers and have their women raped. The police, however, is yet to register any complaint against Pal, despite widescale outrage over his comments.

“Our leader Mamata Banerjee is pained by his comments. He has been sent a showcause notice. After his response, tomorrow we have a meeting, where the decison will be taken on what action to be taken against him,” senior TMC leader and state education minister Partha Chatterjee said.

West Bengal chief minister and party supremo Mamata Benerjee is yet to come out with a public comment on her own on this matter.

Meanwhile, despite wide-scale criticism from all corners, the state police is yet to take any action against the 55-year old Pal, who is second time MP from Nadia's Krishnanagar. “If the police don't take cognisance then it means it is aiding such terror tactics,” CPI(M) MP Mohammed Salim said. CPI-M has demanded that the Lok Sabha Speaker should take suo motu cognisance of Pal's outburst and disqualify him.

Apart from criticism from political opposition, National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Mamata Sharma said, “He should resign. This is a very unfortunate statement. CM Mamata Banerjee should take action against him, he should be suspended.”

“Earlier, you guys have bullied me on various occasions. If you insult the mothers and daughters of Trinamool workers. Then I won't spare you. I will let lose my boys in your homes and they will commit rape. I will teach each of you a lesson,” the Krishnanagar MP is heard saying in party gathering, which has been telecasted in local channels. Tapas Pal, however, denied that he spoke about rape. “What I said was I will tell my workers to ‘raid’.”

Meanwhile, his wife Nandini pal today apologised for her husband's controversial comment.

“I apologise for his comment. Of course there is no question of supporting it. But yes I know there is another part of the story, which provoked him to do that. The entire incident had happened long back, what led to such a thing there is another part of the story,” she said.
