Raman Singh's son keeps low profile working on CM's hometurf

Abhishek has not entered the contest and has been working tirelessly to ensure victory of party candidate Ashok Sahu from Kawardha

Maintaining a low-profile unlike offsprings of many prominent leaders here, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh's son Abhishek who entered the political scene recently feels that the BJP will win for the third consecutive time with a big margin.

Belying speculation about his electoral debut from this seat, Abhishek did not enter the contest and has been working tirelessly to ensure victory of party candidate Ashok Sahu from Kawardha, the family's native place where the Chief Minister's pride is at stake.

It was highlighted by Narendra Modi during a rally, where he attacked Congress for dynastic politics and said Abhishek would have got a ticket if he was in Congress.

Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi's is Amit Jogi is contesting from Marwahi constituency while veteran leader Motilal Vora son Arun has been given a ticket from Durg while slain Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel's son Umesh also got a ticket.

"Constructive development" under the BJP government is the winner for the party, asserts Abhishek who holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and left his job in Mumbai some time back to join politics.

He admits accountability in politics, governance and execution will be the key once his father returns at helm for the third time, while admitting that there has been a "gap".

"Accountability is one challenge. Accountability in politics, governance and execution is of importance. Definitely there is a gap.

"I think world would be heaven if we think everything was alright," he told PTI in an interview here explaining that further administrative measures were needed to be taken.

As he discusses strategy with BJP cadres and meets people in Kawardha, his popularity among young workers is visible.

He rejects suggestions of anti-incumbency wave against BJP in the state and said that people will choose Raman Singh for his development work done in Chhattisgarh during his tenure.

"Definitely, we will come out with good margin and form government in the state for the third time," Abhishek said.

He said people have seen Congress government for three years after 2000 (when Chhattisgarh was created).

"People have seen constructive development in the state during Raman Singh's tenure," said Abhishek.

Raman Singh has been elected for two terms-- 2003 and 2008.
