The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party’s candidate in Medak Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana and the ruling TDP candidate in Nandigama Assembly segment in Andhra Pradesh won the byelections with huge margins.

Outcome was almost on the predicted lines of the ruling parties even though the voter turn out in the recently held by-polls to these two constituencies was almost down by 10 per cent.

In a glittering victory TRS candidate K Prabhakar Reddy won the election by a  margin of over 361,000 votes over his nearest Congress rival and former minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy, who got 210,523 votes. BJP candidate Turpu Jaya Prakash Reddy, who was supported by the TDP, came third with 186,334 votes.

In Nandigama, TDP candidate Tangirala Soumya won by a margin of 74,827 votes over her Congress rival Bodapati Babu Rao, who got 24,921 votes. The YSR Congress Party  did not field its candidate.

By-election to Medak was announced following the resignation of K Chandrasekhara Rao who successfully had won both Medak Lok Sabha and Gajwel assembly segment in Medak in the general elections. Nandigama by-election was held as Soumya's father Tangirala Prabhakar Rao died of heart attack soon after winning the previous election.
