Govt plans to introduce seven new Bills and take up 10 pending Bills for consideration and passage

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that there would be a 'muqabla' (contest), sensing the Opposition heat awaiting his government in Parliament, you better stay prepared to watch a stormy Monsoon session in both the Houses of the ‘temple of democracy’ starting from tomorrow. The session is scheduled to conclude on August 13.

The Lalit Modi, Vasundhara Raje heat wave that gave sunstrokes to the ruling party is showing no signs of letting up for the coming week of Parliament. The government's floor managers also conceded that it would be a difficult task for the ruling NDA in both the houses. Opposition parties are closing ranks to corner the government on a range of issues including the Vyapam scam, removal of Union ministers Sushma Swaraj and Smriti Irani, etc.

While the BJP-led NDA commands an absolute majority in Lok Sabha, it lacks numbers in the Upper House where Congress is the largest party and holds key to the passage of the crucial legislations, including the Goods and Services Tax and land Bill.
