White House has applauded the bipartisan agreement to end the government shutdown, but press secretary Jay Carney joined other White House aides in refusing to declare a political win over Republicans.
'There are no winners here', Carney said at his daily briefing, adding that the Americans have paid a price for this.
According to Politico, he said that nobody can call themselves a winner if the Americans have paid a price for what's happened.
He added that the economy has suffered because of it. And it was wholly unnecessary.
In the long run, though, Carney added, there could be one big winner if the current agreement leads to broader budget action.
