Yashwant Sinha urges government to act tough against Pakistan

Leaders across parties think India shouldn't have initiated talks with Pakistan

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yashwant Sinha on Friday expressed his concern over the recent militant intrusions in Jammu and Kashmir, and urged the central government to act strongly against Pakistan.

"Pakistan has always allowed its territory to be used against India for violence and terrorism and given the various strict vigil on the line of control also from Pakistani side, how is it that people are crossing the line of control from the Pakistani side every now and then, without the active assistance of the Pakistan Army?" Sinha asked.

Echoing similar sentiments, Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal, said India shouldn't have initiated talks with Pakistan.

"Our party wants to know why did the Indian Prime Minister engage in dialogue with Pakistan's Nawaz Sharif? Till the time we have a weak central government like the Congress Party, such incidents would continue. There is a need for a strong action against Pakistan; India needs to adopt a strong policy," he said.

Meanwhile, Congress leader, Jagdambika Pal said that his government has sent a strong message to Pakistan and would only indulge in peace dialogue once Pakistan puts an end to militant activities.

"We also think that the Pakistan Army is responsible for acts of militancy and infiltration along the border with India. The Prime Minister reiterated these views at the UN general council meet. We can only improve relations with Pakistan once it acts strongly against militants in its home ground and stops them from entering Indian territory," said Pal.

Two terrorists were killed as the army foiled an infiltration bid at Gujjardur in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

According to reports, the operation took place west of Shala Batu village in Keran sector in the Kashmir Valley where the army has been involved in an encounter with militants for the last 11 days.
