Barista Coffee Company appoints Sanjay Coutinho as the COO

Barista Coffee Company Limited, one of the leading café chains in India has announced the appointment of Mr. Sanjay Coutinho as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for India. With an experience of 17 years in the retail and F&B industry, Mr. Sanjay Coutinho brings with him an in-depth understanding and expertise of the food and retail sector. 

Mr. Coutinho has worked with organizations of repute. Prior to joining Barista Coffee Company Limited he was working as the COO for Gravis Foods Private Limited, formerly known as Baskin Robbins Franchise Co. Pvt. Ltd. He joined Baskin Robbins in 2001 as a Zonal Manager, West and rose to the level of COO in a span of 5 and half years. He has also worked with other organizations like Pantaloons Retail India Ltd, the pizza delivery chain Domino’s Pizza India Limited, Jet Airways and the Ambassador’s Sky Chef.

A commerce graduate from Mithibai College, Mumbai University, Mr. Coutinho has also done his graduation in Hotel Administration and Restaurant Management from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai in 1994. He then went on to pursue his MBA in Marketing from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai in 2004.

With a vast experience in sales, marketing and exports Mr. Coutinho is all set to take up the new role at Barista and grow the business aggressively and profitably.

Lavazza, the sixth largest coffee roasters in the world, has a 46.5% share in the Italian retail market (value, source: Nielsen) and operates in over 80 countries, in the Home and Away-from-Home sectors (Foodservice, Vending and Cafes). In 2007 sales totaled USD 1.5 billion.
