Himachal High Court sets aside NEAA order on Lafarge project

In an order passed today, the Himachal Pradesh High Court set aside the ruling of the National Environment Appellate Authority, which had quashed the Environment Clearance granted to Lafarge’s project in Himachal Pradesh.

Lafarge welcomes the decision of the Hon’ble High Court and is committed to total legal and environmental compliance.

The Himachal project will accrue benefits to the local communities by giving them preference during employment. The residents of the villages in and around the project site will also benefit from the company’s CSR and community development initiatives including development of infrastructure around the region.

The Hon’ble High Court has also referred the EC to the Ministry of Environment & Forest for consideration. Lafarge will comply with the recommendations of the Ministry, as maybe stipulated.
