Kale's FINESSE MBS to streamline airline miscellaneous billing processes and help airlines become SIS Compliant

Kale Consultants Ltd., the leading provider of solutions to the airline and travel industry, announced its FINESSE MBS Solution, to streamline Miscellaneous Billing processes at airlines. The solution will also help airlines become SIS (Simplified Interline Settlement) compliant. FINESSE MBS will be offered in hosted and outsourced models on a pay-per-use basis, thereby reducing deployment time and optimizing usage.

FINESSE MBS is currently live and operational at a leading Asian Airline. Commenting on the launch of FINESSE MBS, Ms. Neela Bhattacherjee, Head - Airlines SBU, said, "With the airline industry moving towards mandatory SIS compliance, airlines are taking proactive steps to ensure that their miscellaneous billing processes and systems are aligned to the future. MBS is the need of the hour as this is an area which is still a manual process at many airlines. In keeping with other solutions Kale offers, MBS will be available on a pay-per-use basis, a model which has proved beneficial for our customers."

FINESSE MBS' strong and flexible contract management system allows all miscellaneous services such as ground handling, engineering and partner alliances to be defined at a granular level and mapped to SIS category codes. MBS is also flexible in seamlessly integrating with an airline's other billing systems to import charge-lines and raise invoices through SIS. It also has very innovative features such as event scheduler that can schedule invoices at defined intervals thereby ensuring that all the billings are done on a timely basis. MBS tracks every flight to be serviced and provides alerts to management in case the services have not been invoiced. Since the entire pricing processes can be automated through pricing engine, it significantly reduces manual efforts and errors that lead to rejections.

About SIS:

The Simplified Interline Settlement (SIS) project is an industry-wide initiative led by IATA which aims to standardize, facilitate and expedite interline billing and settlement in the airline industry. One of the critical components of SIS is the miscellaneous billing wherein, airlines bill each other for services rendered in areas such as ground handling services, engineering services, billing for partner alliances among others. This is an important revenue stream for airlines as it is relatively recession proof and generates stable margins. However, lack of sufficient automation has led to business issues such as inadequate control over invoicing of services, longer service to invoice cycle as well as higher rejections due to incorrect pricing.
