Nasscom Foundation to organize ConnectIT Day in Orissa

Nasscom Foundation, the social development arm of Nasscom, India's pioneer IT-BPO industry body, will organize ConnectIT workshops in Orissa after the ConnectIT Day in the state capital on 15th of July. ConnectIT is a series of workshops for Government officers and NGO managers aimed at building capacities in using technology for development. This program is conducted in partnership with Microsoft. The first such session in the state will be held in Bhubaneswar, followed by similar workshops in Sambalpur, Rayagada and Raurkela.

Speaking on the ConnectIT initiative Ms. Rumi Mallick, National Programme Manager, Nasscom Foundation said, "Nasscom Foundation through the ConnectIT initiative, strives to enhance the potential of NGOs as well as government officials. The ConnectIT Day, a one day curtain raiser conference will provide a platform for development practitioners to share their experience and deliberate on technology use in development. The ConnectIT workshops soon to follow, have been a success in Maharashtra and Rajasthan and we hope to repeat the same in Orissa as well"

The agenda for the ConnectIT Day will include panel discussion on:

Technologies as an enabler to development

  • Accelerating development of human resources through ICTs
  • ICT enabled good governance 
  • Disaster management and role of ICTs 
  • New opportunities for education, youth development and livelihood through ICTs 

Technology access and innovations and use by Not for profits

  • NGO IT landscape
  • Challenges of ICT use 
  • New Tool and technologies

These ConnectIT workshops will enable participant NGOs and government officers to draw on best practices and uses of technology for their own specific environment and areas of effort, and enable them to deliver top-of-the-line service in the areas in which they operate.
