Niraj Kapasi, CISA, FCA, auditor and director for Kapasi Bangad Tech Consulting Pvt. Ltd., India, was elected international vice president of ISACA—a nonprofit association serving more than 95,000 IT governance, assurance and security professionals in 160 countries—at its World Congress:  INSIGHTS 2011 conference in Washington DC, USA, today.

Founded in 1969, ISACA develops international standards for information systems auditing and control, provides education and training, and administers the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) designations. Additionally, ISACA developed and continually updates COBIT, the internationally accepted framework for governance of enterprise IT.

“Niraj brings valuable insight and experience to ISACA’s board,” said Ken Vander Wal, CISA, CPA, partner (retired) at Ernst & Young, who was elected international president of ISACA today. “His contributions will be of great value to the association and its members around the world.”

Kapasi is a director at Kapasi Bangad Tech Consulting Private Limited and a senior partner at Kapasi Bangad & Co., Chartered Accountants. Previously, Kapasi was senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hyderabad, India, in the Systems and Process Assurance Group.

Kapasi is chair of ISACA’s India Task Force. He has served as a member of ISACA’s Membership Growth and Retention Committee. He is also the past president of ISACA Hyderabad Chapter. He is a regular faculty for CISA Review classes held by the ISACA Hyderbad Chapter.

“It is an honor to be working as a vice president of ISACA,” said Kapasi. “In my 14 years of membership in ISACA, I have seen it grow from 10,000 members to almost 100,000 members with a focus expanding from IT auditors to IS security, governance and risk professionals. It has been a privilege to work with ISACA and I look forward to serving ISACA as a vice president.”
