PRAJ's Chairman Pramod Chaudhari invited for the UN Leadership Forum on Climate Change

Pramod Chaudhari, Chairman, Praj Industries Limited, global leaders in biofuels solutions, will participate in the UN LEADERSHIP FORUM ON CLIMATE CHANGE, slated to take place on 22nd September, 2009 at the UN HQ in New York. The UN Leadership Forum on Climate Change is a precursor to the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Copenhagen in December, 2009. The Copenhagen Conference is said to be a defining conference for setting new agenda on guiding policies of nations.

The UN Leadership Forum on Climate Change will be attended by over 200 Heads of States and Governments, Business and Society Leaders from round the world. The UN Secretary General, Ban-Ki moon, will be presiding over the forum. Through Round Table discussions, leaders will identify best corporate practices, exemplary collective action and innovative solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation specifically in areas of: food security, energy solutions, water security, sustainable enterprise and decent work, financing and disaster preparedness and risk reduction.

Pramod Chaudhari is invited to be a member of the Round Table on "Sustainable Enterprise and Decent Work" and will also be presenting at the Report Back Session in the morning programme.  "I hope to make Climate Change Mitigation a stronger cause through my involvement in this forum and look forward to representing India as well as global energy issues on a larger platform", said Pramod Chaudhari.

Pramod Chaudhari has been invited keeping in mind the role of Praj in development of sustainable biofuels with reference to non-food energy crops, as also, his active involvement as Chairman of CII-National Biofuels Committee.  It is also proposed that Praj will work closely with international organizations affiliated to UN like IFAD (International Fund for Agriculture Development) on developing non-food crops for biofuels production.  The efforts are expected to lead to energy and food security as well as greenhouse gas mitigation while providing for farm income and rural employment.

Through his participation, Pramod Chaudhari, will carry the voice of India to this summit and present the challenges of sustainable business in developing economies and its impact on the lives of all stake-holders.
