Teradata platform allows the number one wireless operator in Philippines to effectively and efficiently manage constantly increasing data flow.
Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the world's largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, announced today that Smart Communications, Inc., the number one wireless operator in The Philippines, has selected the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance as an operational data store (ODS) to consolidate high volume of information and provide analytics capability that will address operational questions without any performance degradation.
"Our solution will help Smart to better understand network usage and customer behaviour. That information will allow Smart to develop or improve services and offerings that are better suited to meet the subscribers' needs and wants," said Noel Pettitt, vice president for South Asia, Teradata Corporation. Smart needed scalability and performance to load large volumes of data coming from different sources and process these into relevant business and operational information in near real-time. After a series of evaluations, Smart was convinced that the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance is best suited for their needs.
"The new systems and solutions, which were operational in less than two months, allowed Smart to consolidate and simplify its prior implementation involving two separate ODS platforms into a single ODS. This resulted to a lower total cost of ownership for Smart as there was no need to support two different platforms," said Lyndon Lacanienta, country manager for Teradata in The Philippines.
