The AIMA - Bosch Limited ‘36th National Competition for Young Managers’ grand finale was organised in New Delhi recently. Team Robert Bosch, Bangalore won this year’s AIMA-Bosch National Championship for young managers at a fiercely contested National Championship held at Sheraton Hotel. In total 8 teams out of which 2 teams from each region were chosen for the grand finale, out of a record number of 170 team competing this year. The regional winners included Areva T &D India Ltd, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd from North, Tata Steel, Bosch Ltd from East, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd from South and NTPC Ltd, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd from West.
The National Competition for Young Mangers (NCYM) is a unique platform to demonstrate creativity, leadership, team working and above all professional prowess and is leveraged by corporates for grooming and developing young managers for Tomorrow. It may be recalled that the competition in its 36th year has been conducted annually since 1974 and winners of the past playing the roles of successful CEO’s and top level managers of today. This year the theme was “Managing Organizational & Management Challenges in India’ keeping in context the current managerial interest in cognizance with the current economic scenario.
Mr. Vijay Ratnaparkhe, President, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Limited was the chief guest and while Mr. Sunil Pant, Chief General Manger was the guest of honour. Mr. Ratnaparkhe gave a thought provoking speech and narrated his past work experiences with audience, he said,”It’s oxymoron to say ‘young manager’. It’s changing, the demographics suggests if you are young, educated, well trained then you can get a desired job anywhere.” He also touched upon the importance of innovation in his speech. He claimed how innovation or science is part of our culture and is simply a ‘mind set’ which we carry. Lastly, he urged the aspiring managers to be capitalist by mind and socialite by heart.
The jury was chaired by Mr. Anil Sachdev, Founder & CEO, School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL) along with Dr H Chaturvedi, Director, Birla Institute of Management Technology, Mr. Arsh Maini, Director.Deloitte & Touche Consulting India Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Amit Tripathi,Executive VP, Zee News Ltd, Mr. Arati Porwal, Chief Representative, India Liaison Office and Dr. Anandi S. Pande, VP, Hero Honda Motors Ltd. The presentations showed the deep thought process of the participants and the out of box thinking and risk taking appetite of the young mangers that only they can infuse. The Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd., Bangalore (Mr. A.S. Nagesh’s team) were adjudged the winners whereas Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore (Mr. Ashish Shetty’s team) and The Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd., Bangalore (Mr. Rajneesh Acharya’s team) were the first and second runners up respectively.
Mr. Kamal Singh, Director CMD, AIMA, said ” The competition besides giving a unique exposure and learning, offered opportunities for a sense of achievement and recognition with several awards and cash prizes and cash prizes competence. The Champion Team and the Best Young Manager have the privilege of international trip for wider exposure of global business”
The nationwide grand competition witnessed overwhelming participation by corporate honchos from Finance, Human Resource, Marketing departments of reputed companies from both private and public sector across India.
