Volkswagen is on its growth path in India with its month on month sales increasing by 230 percent in January 2010 as compared to January 2009 and an increase of 168 percent in February 2010 as compared to February 2009.
Currently Volkswagen cars have a lead time with its customers ranging from two to three weeks for the powerful SUV Touareg, a month for the Jetta and Passat while customers have to wait for about two months for the iconic New Beetle.
The New Polo which was officially launched by Volkswagen on February 23 2010, stood to receive an astounding response across the nation from customers on its first day of display on March 2, 2010.
The New Polo has a waiting period of about one and half to two months – by far the most overwhelming response for any of Volkswagen’s model line up in the country today.
Commenting on such phenomenal response, Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd said “The response towards our car line up especially with the New Polo has really reiterated the trust and confidence that our brand and importantly our products have been able to build up in a short span of time. We are extremely delighted to witness such response from our customers. We are confident to live up to all our customer expectations not only by way of delivering superior products but also by providing them with best in class services.”
The New Polo which was launched at a price tag of Rs. 4.34 lakhs (ex showroom New Delhi) is now being sold at Rs. 4.42 lakhs (ex showroom New Delhi) effective March 2, 2010 due to the change in excise duty announced in the Union Budget.
