1,200 school children honoured in Sonipat

As many as 1,200 rural school children from eight blocks of Sonipat district were honoured for clearing a competitive exam organised by Grameen Pratibha Vikas Samiti at Gohana Mandi here.
"We conducted exams at 400 schools of eight bocks. On the basis of the exams we selected 60 students from each of the eight blocks for the awards," said Satish Raj Deshwal, Chairman of the Samiti.
The meritorious students were awarded with various prizes including laptops, bicycles, fans, emergency lights, ironing machines.
The annual event was attended by senior IPS officers Suman Manjari of Haryana Police, S K Gautam of Delhi Police, Bollywood star Govinda and Dance India Dance fame Kamlesh Patel also performed at the event.

"I love my village and my state. I want to see them on top not only on the papers but also in reality. I am grateful to my 1,500 colleagues for their support. I will continue to organise this event till I am alive," Deshwal said.
The Samiti has been organising the event since last right years.
