"One person was killed and 30 others, including 15 children, went missing as the boat capsized in the Kumar river," the Samoy TV channel reported.
Madaripur Police chief confirmed the incident but did not give the details, saying "our officials are on their way to the accident scene".
The boat was carrying more than 100 people and it capsized after a head-on collision with a vessel in the river, an eyewitness was quoted as saying.
