1 dead, 9 injured as members of two communities clash

A woman died while nine other persons were injured when a clash took place between members of two communities over playing music during a marriage ceremony at Hardakheri area in the district today.
Saharanpur SSP Manoj Kumar said the incident took place during a marriage ceremony at the house of a Hardakheri resident.
While women were participating in a marriage ritual amid music, a youth of another community allegedly slapped the DJ, triggering a clash between members of the two communities. This led to a stampede among the women performing the ritual.
During the stampede, a woman died of heart attack due to anxiety, he said.

Nine other persons, including five women, were injured in the clash, Kumar said.
As soon as the news of the incident spread, senior police officials reached the spot and tried to pacify both the sides.
The SDM has ordered issue of appropriate compensation for the relatives of the deceased.
