Two of the attackers were later thrashed by the villagers and now undergoing treatment in a local hospital, police said.
One Chintamani Das (55), who was having tea in a roadside stall around 6.30 in the evening, was accosted by the attackers who shot at him.
As the assailants tried to escape from the village hurling bombs, villagers grabbed two of them and beat up and later handed over to police.
