The motorcycle Trilokinath, 37, and his neighbor Shivam were riding on was hit by a car late last night, leaving them seriously injured.
A police team rushed them to a hospital, where doctors declared Trilokinath dead on arrival. Shivam, 15, is undergoing treatment.
Police later arrested the driver of the car, a juvenile.
The family of the deceased and their acquaintances today gathered at the Babapul Chowk and blocked vehicular traffic, alleging that police set the accused free without taking action.
Three police personnel, including an ACP and an SHO, were injured in the incident and six DTC buses damaged.
Senior police officials later rushed to the spot and pacified the angry mob.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered in the matter.
