10 killed in Egypt accident

At least 10 people were killed and 18 others injured today after a bus collided with a lorry and caught fire in central Egypt.
The bus, which was coming from the ancient city of Luxor and headed to Cairo collided with the lorry and caught fire near Beni Suef governorate, about 115 km south of Cairo.
The bus caught fire and was completely burned with charred bodies of 10 people recovered from the vehicle. Eighteen others were injured in the accident.
Egypt has one of the world's highest traffic accident rates due to careless driving, condition of roads and vehicles.
A recent report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said there 15,578 car accidents took place in Egypt in 2013, up 0.4 per cent from the year before, which claimed the lives of 6,716 people and injured 22,411 others.
