As many as ten projects have been approved so far under the Trade Infrastructure for Export Scheme (TIES), Parliament has been informed.
The projects approved are in Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.
The scheme seeks to bridge the infrastructure gap and provide forward and backward linkages to units engaged in trade activities.
The projects include modernisation of infrastructure facility for marine exports in Karnataka, construction of standard design factory in Cochin, common scientific facilities in Andhra Pradesh Medi-Tech zone and expansion of Chennai Trade Centre.
"Under TIES, so far, 10 projects have been approved," Minister of State for Commerce and Industry C R Chaudhary said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
Unlike Assistance to States for Development of Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE) Scheme, which was funded by the Centre, the cost of projects under TIES would be equally shared between the Centre and the states.
However, for north-eastern and the Himalayan region states, the Centre may bear 80 per cent of the cost.
In a separate reply, he said USD 1.87 billion worth of solar cells/photovoltaic cells were imported from China during April-October period of this fiscal.
