10-years jail term for two in drug seizure case
A court here has sentenced two people to rigorous imprisonment for 10 years in a case of seizure of hashish.
Sessions Judge P C Chauhan on Wednesday convicted Bharuch residents Abdul Rashid Sheikh and Mariyam Yakub Malik under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The state Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which had arrested the duo, presented nine witnesses during the trial, prosecution sources said.
NCB sleuths had arrested the duo at CTM Cross-roads on the outskirts of Ahmedabad when they were travelling on a Jaipur-Bharuch bus in July 2013. Search of their luggage led to recovery of seven packets of charas weighing 20.6 kg.
