10 years RI for inciting suicide

The court here has sentenced a 32-year-old-man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for inciting his wife to commit suicide in 2013.
The prosecution case was that Sivakumar who runs a mobile phone shop married Dhanabagiyam after accepting huge amount from her father.
Later he started harassing his wife demanding Rs four lakh. Frusterated over the matter, Dhanabagiyam committed suicide by consuming poison in May, 2013.
In her suicide note, she said she was taking the extreme step unable to bear the harassment by her husband.
On her father's complaint the Kadathur police registered case against Sivakumar.
Erode District Mahila Court Judge Thirunavukarasu awarded ten years RI to Sivakumar for inciting his wife to commit suicide due his harassment.
