"This is the biggest haul of heroin in our history," senior Customs official Mali Piyasena said today.
The heroin was concealed in tins of grease. At least two persons, including a Pakistani national, were arrested in connection with the seizure.
The narcotics were in a container sent from Pakistan and had been valued at Rs 1,000 million, Piyasena said.
"We detained this container after receiving information," he said.
The documentation for the container indicated that it contained tins of grease. When the tins were opened, officials discovered heroin inside.
