The anti-narcotics cell of Punjab police today carried out a joint operation with the BSF during which 12.7 kg of heroin worth Rs 65 crore was recovered from an area ahead of the border fencing along the Indo-Pakistan border in Abohar sector.
Gurinder Singh Dhillon IG ( Ferozepur Range) said a drug peddler, identified as Jiwan Singh, was nabbed by the sleuths.
They also recovered a mobile phone with a Pakistani SIM from him, he said, adding that a case under the NDPS Act was registered against the accused.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was planned with BSF officials belonging to 118 Battalion during which 13 packets of heroin, weighing 12.7 kg, were recovered, he added.
