Twelve candidates filed their nominations for the upcoming Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh on the second day of nomination filing today.
While the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP are yet to release their list of candidates, the ones who have received "the signal" have already started organising workers meetings and chalking out their poll strategy.
Sitting BJP MLAs Mohinder Singh and Vijay Agnihotri filed their nominations from Dharampur in Mandi and Nadaun in Hamirpur district respectively.
Former Congress minister Ramlal Thakur entered the fray from Sri Naina Devi while Basant Ram filed nomination from Bilaspur, Sunhash Sharma from Gagret(Una), Capt Hari Singh Panwar from Chopal and Madan Mohan from Kusumpti in Shimla district.
Manohar Lal filed his nomination from Dehra while Vikram Thakur (BJP) and Vinod Kumar are contesting from Jaswan- Pragapur and Vishwanath from Nahan.
No nominations were filed in Chamba, Kullu, Solan, Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti districts.
Former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal launched his campaign from Sujanpur and held meetings at several places after paying obeisance at a local temple.
He received a rousing reception with large number of people welcoming him with beating drums and by raising slogans.
Dhumal, a sitting MLA from Hamirpur, is contesting from Sujanpur, represented by Narinder Thakur (BJP), who is shifting to Hamirpur, a constituency represented five times from 1977 to 1993 by his father, former minister Jagdev Chand.
The Assembly elections in the hill state will be held on November 9 and the results will be declared on December 18.
